Director Steven Spielberg told Deadline that Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight” could get another Oscar nomination.

The filmmaker commented on the fact that “Avatar: The Way of Water” and “Top Gun: Maverick” were blockbusters nominated for Best Picture.

“I’m really encouraged by that. It came late for the film that should have been nominated a number of years ago, Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight,” Spielberg continued. That film “would have definitely garnered a Best Picture nomination today” Spielberg said.

“The Dark Knight” was nominated for five Academy Award categories. Heath Ledger posthumously won the award for Best Supporting Actor.
