Director Steven Spielberg told Deadline that Christopher Nolan’s «The Dark Knight» could get another Oscar nomination.

The filmmaker commented on the fact that «Avatar: The Way of Water» and «Top Gun: Maverick» were blockbusters nominated for Best Picture.

«I’m really encouraged by that. It came late for the film that should have been nominated a number of years ago, Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight,» Spielberg continued. That film «would have definitely garnered a Best Picture nomination today» Spielberg said.

«The Dark Knight» was nominated for five Academy Award categories. Heath Ledger posthumously won the award for Best Supporting Actor.
