The cast of ‘Friends’ mourns the loss of their former co-star from the iconic series, Matthew Perry.

In a joint statement provided to CNN, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, and Matt LeBlanc wrote, «We are all completely devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just co-stars on the set; we were a family. It’s so hard to put into words how much we loved him, but we know, with time, we’ll be able to express the love and respect we have for him. We will be there for Matt’s family and friends and send our condolences to everyone who loved him across the world.»

Perry passed away this past Saturday at his home in the Los Angeles area. He was 54 years old.

The 54-year-old Perry starred in the NBC sitcom «Friends» from 1994 to 2004, portraying Chandler Bing, a charming and sarcastic young man. The show was one of the most popular of its time and continues to attract a younger audience on streaming platforms.

For his role, Perry was nominated for an Emmy Award in 2002 for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series. In 2021, he was also nominated as an executive producer for the «Friends: The Reunion» special on HBO Max.

On Sunday, «Friends» co-creators Marta Kauffman and David Crane, along with executive producer Kevin Bright, also stated that they were «shocked and deeply saddened by the loss of our dear friend Matthew.»

«We will always be grateful for the joy, the light, and the brilliant intellect he brought to every moment — on and off the set. He was the most amusing person in the room. Additionally, he had the kindest, most generous heart… This is truly the case where our hearts are broken,» the statement reads.

The chemistry between the «Friends» actors extended far beyond their on-screen dynamics. The cast has maintained their relationships since the show ended in 2004.

«It’s a very loving and tight-knit group,» Perry said during an interview with Entertainment Tonight in 2021. «When we see each other, it’s very touching,» he added.
