Cher is not too pleased that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has not given her due attention at any stage of her iconic career. The legendary «Believe» singer reflected on her chart success over the years during an appearance on «The Kelly Clarkson Show.»
Host Kelly Clarkson noted that Cher’s recent holiday single, «DJ Play a Christmas Song,» helped her secure another number one spot on the Billboard chart.
Clarkson acknowledged that this achievement is «incredible,» but Cher stated that she is still not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. «You know what? I wouldn’t want to be in it now if they did it. I wouldn’t do it,» Cher replied. «I’m serious,» she added after a brief pause, saying that the museum can «go [you-know-where] themselves.»
Cher’s criticism of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is not new. In 2010, she told Vanity Fair that it «seems a little rude» that both she and her musical collaborator Sonny Bono, who passed away in 1998, were excluded from the museum. «It bothers me a little bit because Sonny was a good writer, and we started something that no one else was doing,» she said at the time. «We were the strange hippies before it was called that, when the Beatles were wearing cute haircuts and round-collared suits. … We influenced a generation.
