Brad Pitt will play the lead role in Quentin Tarantino’s latest film, ‘The Film Critic,’ as reported by Deadline.
Pitt and Tarantino had previously collaborated in the 2019 film ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,’ a role that earned Pitt his first Oscar for Best Supporting Actor. Pitt also starred in the 2009 film ‘Inglourious Basterds’ and the 1993 film ‘True Romance,’ for which Tarantino co-wrote the screenplay.
The presumed setting of Tarantino’s latest film is Los Angeles in 1977, focusing on a film critic working for a fictional publication called ‘Star Pages.’ Tarantino mentioned that the film is ‘based on a guy who really lived but was never really famous and wrote reviews for a porn magazine.’
‘He wrote about mainstream movies and was a second-rate critic,’ Tarantino told Deadline at last year’s Cannes Film Festival. ‘I think he was a damn good critic. He was damn cynical. His reviews were something between early Howard Stern and what Travis Bickle would be if he was a film critic.’
The specific role Pitt will play remains unclear.
The writer and director previously referred to Pitt as ‘one of the last great stars of the big screen.’
