In New York, the new trend in plastic surgery is nipples like David Beckham’s. Local surgeons note an increase in the number of men wishing to reduce the size of their nipples, and David Beckham serves as their aesthetic inspiration.

«People want David Beckham’s nipples,» said Dr. Mark Everett, a plastic surgeon from the Upper East Side of Manhattan, as reported by the Daily Mail.

Dr. Eli Levin, who also practices in the same upscale neighborhood, says he now performs the procedure once every two weeks instead of several times a year. «It’s definitely a growing trend,» he stated.

Although the procedure is expensive, it can be done quickly, and patients can return to work the same day. Initially, the chest area is numbed with a local anesthetic, and then the surgeon cuts the nipple on the sides to remove the skin and excess breast tissue. Some surgeons also partially trim the pointed area in the center of the nipple, known as the projection, to make it look more «daring.»

«Men are increasingly paying attention to how they dress and how they look,» he said. «If they wear something tight-fitting and the nipples are more noticeable, it can cause discomfort,» stated the plastic surgeon.

Levin says that about 80% of patients needing nipple reduction surgery are New York residents, with the rest being men from other cities. «It’s not the most common procedure I perform, but it’s definitely trending upwards,» he said.
