Sharon Stone revealed the name of the producer who tried to coerce her into having sex with a fellow actor to enhance the chemistry between their characters on screen.
The 66-year-old actress previously discussed the situation in her 2021 memoirs without disclosing names, but now she disclosed that the producer was Robert Evans, the actor was Alec Baldwin’s brother Billy, and the film in question was 1993’s «Sliver».
Evans, who passed away in 2019, was also a producer of films like «Chinatown» and «The Cotton Club», and he headed Paramount’s production of movies such as «The Godfather», «The Italian Job», «True Grit», and «The Great Gatsby».
«‘Sliver’ was Sharon’s next film after the huge success of ‘Basic Instinct’. ‘They expected me to bring them another giant hit, and they approved me for the role… Then they tried to blame me for their mistakes, and they made horrible mistakes in how they hired directors and actors,'» the actress said on the Louis Theroux podcast.
According to her, Evans called her out of filming to his office to ask her to sleep with the lead actor William Baldwin off the set.
«‘He’s running around his office in dark glasses, telling me he’s slept with Ava Gardner, and I should sleep with Billy Baldwin because if I slept with Billy Baldwin, his performance would improve,'» she said.
Sharon said upon hearing his demand, she remembered that he hadn’t listened to the list of actors she had suggested for Baldwin’s role.
«‘I didn’t need to f*** Michael Douglas. Michael could come to work and know how to hit his marks. Now suddenly I’m in the ‘I gotta f*** people business’… ‘I felt like they could have just hired a talented co-star who could show up and hit their marks. I also felt like they could have f***ed him themselves and not involved me in it. It was my job to act, and that’s what I said. That wasn’t the popular answer. They thought I was difficult,'» she added.
