Actress Rebel Wilson hopes to help young people feel stronger when it comes to sex and intimacy by sharing that she lost her virginity at the age of 35.
«Not everyone has to lose their virginity in their teens,» she told People in an interview about her upcoming memoir «Rebel Rising.» «People can wait until they’re ready or wait until they mature for it.»
Wilson said she details her personal experience in the memoir and believes it «can be a positive message» for others. «Obviously, you don’t have to wait until you’re thirty, like me, but you shouldn’t feel pressured when you’re young,» she said.
Describing herself as a «late bloomer,» Wilson shared that she lied to her friends, saying she «only did it to get it over with» when she was 20, or simply left the room when the topic came up.
According to her, if she were born 20 years later, she would have «probably explored her sexuality more.» «I just knew I was attracted to men, and that was okay. And only years later, dating women and having feelings for a woman… I think that’s a sign of where society was,» she said.
Today, the Australian actress has nothing to hide. In February 2023, Wilson got engaged to fashion designer Ramona Agrumoya at Disneyland. Last November, she became a mother through a surrogate.
«Rebel Rising» will be released on April 2.
