Oscar-winning actor Russell Crowe will play the lead role in the upcoming horror film «Exorcism». Directed by Joshua John Miller, the film, centered around the theme of demon expulsion, is set to hit theaters in early June.
Crowe portrays Anthony Miller, «a troubled actor who begins to lose his mind during the filming of a supernatural horror movie.»
In his statement, Miller explained that the idea for the film originated in his childhood when he watched his father portray Father Karras in «The Exorcist». «My father never shied away from telling me just how ‘cursed’ the film was: mysterious fires that plagued the production, strange deaths, injuries… the list goes on and on. Since then, I’ve been captivated by the story of the ‘cursed film’…
In ‘Exorcism,’ we wanted to update the possession film formula for a world where no group holds moral high ground over another. We were blessed with an outstanding cast and creative team to tell a story about how we are all vulnerable to darkness and can perpetuate it if we fail to confront our demons,» noted Miller.
