A second chance… A Fresh Start In The USA…

It’s the end οf the οrdeal fοr Kοla, a dοg neglected by his fοrmer οwner in Sοuth Kοrea. 2 animal prοtectiοn assοciatiοns wοrked hand in hand tο save him, then take him acrοss the Pacific tο meet his new New Yοrk family.

The poignant images of a dog tethered tightly and exposed to the harsh elements touched the hearts of numerous internet users, resonating deeply not only in South Korea, where he once endured, but also across the globe, particularly in the United States. Now, Kola has found himself in a new environment, experiencing a far happier life.

Kola’s days and nights were spent predominantly outdoors, homeless and restricted by a chain so short that he could barely move. He lacked adequate food and access to water. The video depicting his living conditions was profoundly heartbreaking.

The owner had only kept her for hunting purposes and showed little concern for her well-being. Upon learning of the situation, two organizations, “In Defense of Animals” and “Jindo Love Rescue,” collaborated to rescue the dog.

“I could see in her eyes that she longed for a family.”

It was imperative to save Kola and bring her out of Korea. Initially, we needed to convince her owner to release her. The Jindo Love Rescue team engaged in lengthy discussions with him and eventually succeeded in persuading him. Now, the dog was in safe hands, receiving nourishment, care, and affection at the shelter.

Azadeh Rahmani, like many others, was deeply moved by Kola’s story, which she discovered on the association’s website. “Looking at the photos, I felt a connection with Kola,” said the New York resident. “I could see in her eyes that she desperately wanted to be part of a family.”

She immediately reached out to the shelter with the intention of adopting Kola. Jindo Love Rescue and In Defense of Animals coordinated Kola’s journey to the United States.

“I hope her story can inspire people to consider adoption.”

On Monday morning, Kola arrived at John F. Kennedy Airport in New York, where her new family eagerly awaited her: Azadeh Rahmani, her wife, and their dog. It was a joyful and emotional reunion.

“I hope her story can inspire people to consider adopting a dog and give them the opportunity to be loved and cared for, because I promise they will return the favor,” said Rahmani, who has welcomed Kola into their home.
