The Screen Actors Guild of America has announced a strike following the writers’ strike.

The Screen Actors Guild of America has announced a strike following the writers’ strike. This will be the first such strike since 1980. Interestingly, it is the first time since 1963 that it coincides with a writers’ strike.

From now on, 160,000 actors will cease filming, refrain from participating in press conferences, attending film and TV series premieres, and promoting projects. Notably, Cillian Murphy, Robert Downey Jr., Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, and Florence Pugh left the premiere of «Oppenheimer» in London right after the red carpet in protest.

To recall, the Writers Guild of America announced a large-scale strike on May 2, which led to the suspension of production of new series and new seasons of existing projects.
