The Fire Fox: One of the Most Elusive Animals in the Wild

The Fire Fox is one of the hardest animals to spot in the wild. It is one of the 27 species of foxes around the world, but only 12 are considered “true foxes,” with the characteristic red fur being the most distinctive.

This particular fox is one of the few animals that are monogamous by choice, meaning they have only one partner. This behavior makes them difficult to observe in the wild, as they do not tend to wander alone.

During the global quarantine, certain animals have been seen more frequently in areas where they had never been spotted before.

Its fur is utterly mesmerizing — unlike the common fox, it has red and black coloring, due to the high melanin content in its skin.

Typically found in North America, the Fire Fox is often a target of poachers because of its beauty. Nowadays, it is rarely seen outside of captivity.

Images of this rare creature went viral after photographer S. Gaby, from Newfoundland, Canada, captured a Fire Fox wandering near a road, which had been deserted due to the lack of traffic during quarantine.
