King Charles III will pay $261 billion for the UK’s involvement in the slave trade.
Terminally ill King Charles III is expected to repay a massive debt of over $250 billion to compensate for the UK’s role in the slave trade, according to Radar.
Sources report that the monarch and his prime minister will be urged to address the country’s involvement in slavery and colonialism during the Commonwealth Summit at the end of October. Charles himself has repeatedly called for a discussion about the past and insisted on an investigation into the matter.
Now, the king will have to pay $261 billion, although it remains unclear which budget the payments will come from.
It is worth noting that in February of this year, British authorities revealed that Charles III had been diagnosed with cancer. A malignant tumor was discovered during treatment for prostate adenoma.
In early October, it was reported that the king decided to suspend his cancer treatment.
