The 32-year-old Selena Gomez wowed fans with her impeccable sense of style on Thursday, October 24, when she appeared at her charity event, the Rare Impact Fund Benefit. The singer and actress launched the fund in 2020 in conjunction with her beauty line, Rare Beauty by Sephora, which became hugely successful, helping her reach billionaire status by 2024. The goal of the Rare Impact Fund is to raise $100 million to make mental health services accessible to young people around the world.
At the annual charity event in Los Angeles, Gomez graced the red carpet in a stunning dark blue one-shoulder gown. The fitted dress highlighted her figure and toned legs. Her dark hair was styled in soft waves, and fans noticed that she’s now sporting a much shorter haircut.
The second annual Rare Impact Fund Benefit was confirmed in September, with a press release promising a “star-studded evening with live performances and special presentations” throughout the night. All proceeds from the event will go toward advancing the nonprofit organization’s global mission.
“I am so thrilled to be hosting the second annual Rare Impact Fund Benefit here in Los Angeles and to continue building on the success of last year’s inaugural event,” Gomez said. “Advocating for people with mental health challenges and supporting the mission of the Rare Impact Fund has become my life’s work, and I couldn’t have done it without the support of those around me. A heartfelt thanks to our incredible friends and sponsors who passionately support our cause,” she concluded.
The Rare Impact Fund currently supports 26 youth mental health organizations across five continents, including groups in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., various European countries, India, Brazil, and Australia. Gomez has been candid about her mental health struggles since being diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2018. She sought help after experiencing psychosis, manic episodes, and depression during her Revival tour.
“Honestly, I didn’t want to go to a psychiatric hospital,” Gomez admitted in her widely discussed documentary, *Selena Gomez: My Mind and Me.* “I didn’t want it, but I didn’t want to be trapped in myself and my mind anymore. I thought my life was over; I thought this was how it would always be.”
After initially being prescribed too many medications, Gomez sought help from a different psychiatrist who helped her find the right treatment. Her journey to reclaim her mental health and improve her life inspired her to dedicate herself to advocating for other young people facing similar challenges.
