The sad reality is that too thin and emaciated dogs often end up in shelters. Seeing animals suffer until they can barely stand up angers me. Some, despite the abuse they’ve endured, still show affection and trust, while others cower in fear at the sight of a rescuer. It’s worth taking a moment to consider what they must have gone through.

I find it impossible to imagine ever harming an animal. Moreover, I can’t understand how anyone could take pleasure in doing so.

People who work with animals know how important it is to give a neglected animal the chance to connect. It’s natural to want to play with and pet a dog to show you’re not a threat, but that’s not always the best approach.

Some people just don’t understand that an abused dog will be startled by an unknown person. The beginning of the video is difficult to watch. Edie is so scared that she doesn’t know what to do. She senses that this man is a threat, so she trembles all over and barks to drive him away.
