Italian Singer Renounces Russian Citizenship

Italian Singer Al Bano Declares He Does Not Want to Obtain Russian Citizenship.

Italian singer Al Bano revealed in an interview with Iz.ru that he has no intention of obtaining Russian citizenship.

Al Bano stated that his home is in Cellino San Marco, a town in southern Italy where he was born. He expressed a strong connection to his roots and a desire not to sever them by moving elsewhere. The artist mentioned that he has frequently received offers to relocate to other countries, including Los Angeles and Monte Carlo, but he has consistently declined.

“I am also a citizen of Albania. My name is connected to that country. My father fought in World War II and told me how Albanians helped him survive. He said to my mother, ‘Let’s name our son Al Bano; he will bring us luck.’ My father was right,” the singer shared.

Al Bano also admitted his deep admiration for Russia, calling his love for the country “sacred and inviolable.” He mentioned his appreciation for Russian classical music and stated that he believes Russians sing better than he does.

“I often find myself simply listening to the magnificent and unparalleled Russian music,” the artist noted.
