Ingredients:
– Water — 2.5 cups
– Sugar — 2 cups
– Vanilla sugar — 1 tsp
– Cornstarch — 2.5 cups
– Vegetable oil
– Powdered sugar
– Chopped almonds or hazelnuts — to taste
Preparation:
Take 2 cups of sugar, mix it with ½ cup of water. Cook the syrup until it thickens, then skim off the foam. Dissolve 2.5 cups of cornstarch in 2 cups of water and gradually pour it into the syrup. Once the mixture turns clear, pour it into a mold that has been greased with refined vegetable oil.
Let it cool and thicken. Once cooled, cut the Turkish delight into cubes and generously sprinkle with powdered sugar. You can also sprinkle vanilla sugar to taste, or add chopped hazelnuts or almonds.
Turkish delight is usually placed in cardboard boxes, with the bottom lined with parchment paper.
