Elected U.S. President Donald Trump has threatened 100% tariffs on BRICS countries for attempting to “abandon the dollar” and replace the U.S. currency in international trade. Trump wrote this on his social media on November 30, as reported by Deutsche Welle.

“The idea that BRICS countries are trying to abandon the dollar while we stand by and watch is over. We demand that these countries commit not to create a new BRICS currency and not to support any other currency to replace the mighty U.S. dollar,” Trump wrote, adding that otherwise, the countries “will face 100% tariffs.”

“There is no chance that BRICS will replace the U.S. dollar in international trade, and any country that tries to do so should wave goodbye to America,” Trump wrote.
