Angelina Jolie admitted that she is not afraid of death while discussing what she would have done if her career in Hollywood had not taken off. She revealed that before achieving success in film, she trained to work in a funeral home. The 49-year-old actress shared this in an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. During the interview, Jimmy gently asked Jolie about her work before Hollywood.
“I was curious, are these rumors about other fields you wanted to pursue a career in true? It’s interesting to know if any of this is real,” he asked.
After Angelina responded that she was also curious about the rumors, Jimmy clarified that it was said she trained to be a funeral director before becoming an actress.
“Yes, it’s true. But is that bad?” Jolie laughed in response.
Talking about why she was initially drawn to this career, she explained that it stemmed from the death of a relative.
“My grandfather passed away, and I remember thinking, this shouldn’t be. It should be a celebration of life. And since I’m not afraid of death and feel comfortable with it, I thought: ‘This would be a great career path for me. I could do it better.'”
Fallon agreed with the actress.
“We need more people like that,” he said.
“Now it’s my backup career,” Jolie joked.
Her appearance on the talk show marked her first visit to a TV show in 10 years. Jolie is currently promoting her upcoming biographical film Maria, which will be released on Netflix on December 11.
