Bella Thorne Calls Out Mickey Rourke Over Alleged On-Set Abuse: “One of the Worst Experiences of My Career”
In response to Mickey Rourke’s recent homophobic remarks about JoJo Siwa, actress Bella Thorne opened up about what she described as a deeply traumatic experience working with Rourke on a film — though she did not specify which one.
“That f***ing guy was unbearable,” Thorne wrote under a photo of Rourke. “I had to work with this man on a scene where I was on my knees with my hands tied behind my back. He was supposed to move a metal grinder over my knee — but instead, he kept pressing it against my genitals through my jeans, over and over. I ended up with bruises on my pelvic bone. Working with Mickey was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had as an actress.”
Thorne added that there were “so many disgusting stories” from the shoot, including a moment in a final scene where, according to her, Rourke revved and spun a motor to intentionally cover her in mud in front of the entire crew. “I think he thought humiliating me would be funny,” she said.
While Thorne didn’t name the specific project, she did co-star with Mickey Rourke in the 2020 horror film Girl.
In response to Thorne’s allegations, Rourke’s representatives issued a statement:
“We are aware of the deeply disturbing allegations made by Bella Thorne regarding her experiences with Mr. Rourke. These allegations are very serious. Mr. Rourke categorically denies any intentional wrongdoing. He has never before been made aware of such accusations and was not informed of any concerns expressed by Ms. Thorne at the time. Out of respect for all parties involved and due to the seriousness of these claims, Mr. Rourke will refrain from further comment at this time. He is prepared to cooperate fully with any appropriate investigation.”
