“He will be able to live a happy life”: Colin Farrell plans to place his son in a care facility due to a rare illness

Actor Colin Farrell says he plans to place his son in a care facility due to Angelman syndrome.

Colin Farrell has revealed that he is planning to place his son in a care facility for people with disabilities because of a rare illness.

The star of The Gentlemen, Colin Farrell, is the father of 21-year-old James, who has Angelman syndrome — a rare genetic disorder characterized by delayed intellectual and physical development, lack of speech, and excitable behavior.

The actor has made the difficult decision to place his son in a residential care facility. Colin explained that his choice is driven by fear — the fear that James might be left alone if something were to happen to his parents.

“It’s hard — some parents say, ‘I want to care for my child myself,’ and I respect that. But I’m terrified by the thought that if I have a heart attack tomorrow, and God forbid James’s mother, Kim, gets into a car accident and is gone too, then what? James would be alone… We want him to find a place where he can live a full and happy life, a place he feels connected to,” the actor shared in an interview with Candis Magazine.

Farrell emphasized that he and his partner are currently exploring the best possible care facilities to choose the most suitable one for James.
