Martin Scorsese will serve as the host and producer of the series «The Saints» for the Fox Nation channel

Oscar-winning director Martin Scorsese is teaming up with Fox News to create a new documentary series. The director, who recently received his 16th Oscar nomination for the film «Killers of the Flower Moon,» will serve as the host and producer of the series «The Saints» for the Fox Nation channel.

Each episode will explore the lives of different saints, including Joan of Arc, John the Baptist, and Mary Magdalene.

«For most of my life, I’ve lived with the saints, thinking about their words and actions, imagining the worlds they lived in, the choices they faced, the examples they gave,» said Scorsese. «These are stories of eight incredibly different men and women, each of whom lived through different periods of history and tried in their own way to follow the path of love, opened to them and us by the words of Jesus in the Gospels. I’m so thrilled that this project is underway and that I’m working with such a dependable and talented team.»

Elizabeth Chomko will serve as the series director.

Scorsese also plans to make an 80-minute theatrical film about Jesus to «take away the negative burden associated with organized religion.» The screenplay for the film will be co-written by Kent Jones, who is also a writer for his new series on the Fox channel.

The first part of the series will be released in November.
